Sony Ericsson Announced its Latest Phone, the W508

Sony Ericsson announced its new phone, the W508, which is obviously a Walkman. It comes in a clamshell form factor and it somewhat resembles the W980. It is a 3.5G clamshell phone with a 2.2″ QVGA display, 3.2 megapixel camera, and it comes with comprehensive multimedia support invcluding
a YouTube application.
Possibly the most interesting thing with the W508 is the collection of “Style-Up” covers that take the standard grey or white phone and adds a number of interesting colour options such as Architectural Purple, Forest Green, Mysterious Graffiti, Sunny Orange and Midnight Summer. While commenting on the product, Alexandre Cardon, Global Product Marketing Manager of Sony Ericsson said “For those who like to express their style and individuality through their mobile phone we’ve brought our creative design team in to design stylish changeable covers so that W508 offers a truly interactive and individual experience.”
There will be two versions of the new Walkman phone: Sony Ericsson W508 (with quad band GMS and HSDPA 2100 connectivity) and Sony Ericsson W508a (with quad band GMS and HSDPA 850/1900/2100
connectivity). The handset should be commercially available starting the second quarter of 2009, for a price that will be announced later on.
