Motorola Unveils its new Endeavor HX1 Headset

Motorola has announced a new Bluetooth headset called the Endeavor HX1 that promises to allow the user to talk and be heard in even the most extreme environment. This device comes with stealth mode and uses bone conduction technology to eliminate background noise and amplify the user’s voice.
Motorola uses its CrystalTalk noise cancellation technology in the headset along with a stealth mode that activates bone conduction technology. The bone conduction tech picks up your voice by sensing the vibrations in your bones rather than using a mic. It measures 47mm x 18mm x 12mm (1.9in x 0.7in x .5in) and only weighs 13g (.5oz). Motorola claims to be leveraging military-style technology for the Endeavor HX1: when the unit’s “stealth mode” is activated, the unit uses an ear sensor to block off outside noise and
convert vocal vibrations directly into speech audio. The result—in theory anyway—is that listeners only hear the caller’s voice, not what’s going on around them. The Endeavor HX1 also includes Motorola’s CrystalTalk noise cancellation technology to deal with everyday noise when the unit’s stealth mode is overkill.
Motorola plans to market the HX1 in Asia beginning next month. No word yet on pricing, or when/if Motorola plans to bring the unit to North
American markets.
T-Mobile Shadow Smartphone Now Available

The T-Mobile Shadow offers a fresh take on Windows Mobile smartphones, with a sleek slider design and interface. This new Smartphone strikes a unique balance of design and functionality so you can easily share life’s fun moments with those who matter most. It sports dimensions of 4 inches tall by 2 inches wide by 0.6 inch deep and 5.3 ounces, but the smartphone now sports curved edges, a shinier face, and a new paint job that gives it a fresh look. The Shadow has the typical 201MHz Texas Instruments OMAP processor with a better than average 256 megs of flash memory and 128 megs of RAM.
It runs Windows Mobile 6 Standard Edition (the new name for the smartphone version of the OS, which lacks a touch screen and features more phone-like ergonomics). It features a bright portrait orientation QVGA display, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi 802.11b/g, a 2 megapixel camera and slider that conceals the SureType keyboard, Spin navigation wheel and slide-out QWERTY-like keypad with predictive text for quick and easy messaging.
Like most high end feature phones, smartphones and PDA phones, the Shadow can double as your portable MP3 player. The customized home screen has basic controls to stop and start music playback, and for full control over playlists and library updates you’ll use Windows Media Player Mobile. While Media Player’s features can’t compete with the desktop version or a dedicated MP3 player, it does get the job done. The Shadow’s microSD card slot supports SDHC for high capacity cards.
For the young professionals who have outgrown their cell phone but aren’t quite ready for a business-centric device, the T-Mobile Shadow offers a nice compromise, as the entry-level smartphone brings the capabilities of a Windows Mobile smartphone into a fresh and affordable package.

Samsung Alias 2 (U750) Released from Verizon Wireless

The Samsung Alias 2 (U750) released for Verizon Wireless is an inventive update to Samsung’s previous. The
new Samsung Alias 2 U750 is larger and slightly heavier than the original, but that is a good thing. Where the original Alias felt cheap and flimsy, the Alias 2 feels sturdy and durable. The color is also a more attractive gunmetal gray, which gives it a more professional appearance.
Located on the front is the slightly larger 1.3” 128×128 pixel display, 2MP camera, and music control buttons. Along the left side is the 2.5mm headset jack, charging port, volume rocker and voice command button, with the power button, hold/lock button, and microSDHC card slot on the right, which supports up to 16GB memory cards.
The most fascinating feature of the device is the E-ink keyboard, which Verizon calls “Magic Key”. The technology has been around for several years, but until recently hasn’t found it’s way to the cell phone market. With E-ink, the keyboard buttons can be mapped dynamically, which means they could be used for any function. The Alias 2 has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging, too, with support for sending and receiving text, picture, and video messages as well as mobile instant messaging (IM). There’s also a complete e-mail client on the device for POP- and IMAP-based accounts. And of course, the QWERTY keyboard makes it a snap to type your messages.
This phone also offers compatibility with the RemoSync service–a corporate email contacts and calendar solution that provides secure and easy access to your company’s Microsoft Exchange Server, with enterprise-class security and IT remote administration features. You’ll be able to read, compose and send email, as well as access and manage Outlook contacts, your corporate directory and calendar.
