FCC Approves Sharp’s “Sidekick 3G”
T-Mobile will soon be lauching Sharp’s Sidekick 3G smartphone which features high-speed 3G Internet. This is as a result of the approval given by Federal Communications Commission to Sharp to go ahead and launch this new smartphone. The new Sidekick features support for T-Mobile’s 3G network, for high-speed data transfers, and appears to be manufactured by Sharp.
Earlier on, Japanese electronics maker Sharp has submitted the PV300 for regulatory approval, this is a mandatory step for all phone manufacturers intending to sell in the US market.
This new device supports the 1700MHz spectrum, the same band used by T-Mobile 3G. Not only does this GSM handset supports internet 3G connectivity and Bluetooth capabilities, it also comes with additional features such as a 3.2-inch WVGA display, 3.2-megapixel camera, microSD card slot and GPS with turn-by-turn navigation.
Although, it is not yet clear how T-Mobile will call the handset, the company has already concluded arrangements to double its high-speed coverage by the end of this year.
